Teddy Bear First Birthday Cake wth Elmo Bib

Received yet another adorable request for a first birthday cake:  a 3D Baby Teddy Bear wearing a diaper and an Elmo Bib, building block letters spelling birthday boy's name placed in front of the cake.

They had scheduled a taste testing session back in March and said they liked the Strawberry cake & Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling.  So they wanted their cake to be half strawberry, half chocolate.  Then 2 days before the birthday party, they requested the cake be made gluten free with minimal sugar.  I had to run to the store to buy the different ingredients to make a gluten free cake, but I'm happy that I was able to do this for them, since the mother was saying that her son was reacting to the cupcake that she had made earlier in the week.

Cake: Gluten-free Strawberry & Gluten-free Chocolate Cake
Filling: Vanilla Buttercream
Icing: Vanilla Buttercream

Design specifics:
*Teddy bear with hands in front, space for a cupcake (mother will make the cupcake)
*Teddy will have a bib on with Elmo, covering half of the torso, belly hanging out below.
*Teddy will wear diaper
*Letter blocks "ALEC" in front of Teddy [red, green, yellow, blue]
*Teddy will have brown "chestnut" color "hair/fur" with light pink nose, black eyes (refer to photo sent of teddy bear" to recreate size of eyes, where to place the eyes, etc.)

Happy First Birthday, ALEC!

Happy 21st Birthday Ribbon Gift Cake Present

I received a call from someone in Fredricksburg to order a cake for her cousin who lives in the area.  She informed me that her cousin was attending culinary school and she wanted to surprise her with a cake (so that she wouldn't have to make her own!).  I hope she liked her surprise birthday cake with her favorite colors!

Theme: 21st Birthday
Cake: Vanilla Gold Butter Cake
Filling: Vanilla Buttercream

I baked the Vanilla Gold Butter Cakes, filled with 3 layers of Vanilla Buttercream filling for each tier (there is a 6 inch and 8 inch cake).

Then I covered the 6 inch cake with gray fondant, then added a thick pink ribbon around and white pearl buttercream dots at the base of the cake.

Next, I covered the 8 in cake with purple fondant, then added the diamond lattice for the purple cake, then added a thin pink fondant ribbon and white pearl buttercream dots around.

I made a large pink ribbon using half fondant half gumpaste so that it hardens and holds it shape when I place it on the cake.

Happy 21st Birthday Janaya!

Topsy Turvy Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower Cake

I received a request to create a Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower Cake.  She requested a taste testing to convince the other ladies helping to host the baby shower to order a professional cake.  Weeks went by without a response, so I figured they may have decided to make the cake themselves, as they were considering.  However, a week before the baby shower, I finally received a response that they wanted me to create the Topsy Turvy Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower Cake.  Had so much fun making this cake.  So here it is!

Teapot: Fondant
Watch: Fondant
Table: Double Chocolate Bourbon Cake with Peanut Butter Buttercream filling, covered in Chocolate Buttercream, then fondant
Cheshire Cat: Vanilla Butter Cake with coconut custard buttercream filling, coconut flakes, covered in coconut custard buttercream, then fondant
